Description & Requirements

The Senior Software Engineer will be tasked to design, develop and deploy business intelligence solutions that leverage data warehouse, BI reporting and analytic solutions. The areas of focus will be the development of reports and dashboards using Cognos. Participates in software requirements meetings and/or kickoffs to understand Software requirements and scope; will also participate in design review meetings to understand the software designs that will be translated into code during the development life cycle.

 Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or similar in software engineering, computer science, or information technology.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 3-5 years of technical experience in product design, programming and business intelligence tools and development (Cognos preferred)
  • Technical experience with Cognos BI tools in installing, configuring and supporting applications.
  • Good technical knowledge in software development methodologies, implementation, and quality control
  • Good understanding of entire development process, including specification, documentation and quality assurance.
  • Good communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • At least 2-3 years hands-on experience in web development or business intelligence work using any of the following:
o Experience with large data sets, dimensional modeling
o Experience with business intelligence tools
o Proficiency in Javascript, HTML/CSS
o Understanding of SQL and relational databases
o Strong knowledge of data analysis and visualization, data modeling
o Experience with programming and scripting languages (C# or Java preferred)
o Experience in using collaboration tools like JIRA and Confluence

  • Experience working in an Agile method with Scrum process a plus.

A Day in The Life Typically Includes:

  • Deliver expected requirements according to schedule and business specifications.
  • In charge of generating, creating, organizing, and maintaining business interfaces. These include dashboards, data visualizations, operational reports, and data querying tools for users to get the information they require.
  • Participate in software requirements meetings and/or kickoffs to understand Software requirements and scope.
  • Work with a team of cross-functional developers in delivering quality software applications end-to-end.
  • Ensure high performance and responsiveness to any technical requests whether requirements analysis, development, testing, maintenance or support
  • Work cooperatively and supportively with the team to complete project deliverables on time.
  • Provides accurate and complete status reports to project leads.
