Infor is looking for a talented Principal Java Developer to join our India Infor SunSystems development team as we build momentum for our recently released Multi-Tenant cloud solution. SunSystems is a well-established financial management solution with a depth of functionality that attracts thousands of B2B customers in multiple verticals around the globe. The solution is combined with real time analytics and is tightly integrated into Infor’s Technology platform.

SunSystems R&D is forming a new team based in India, to work side by side with the rest of the organisation currently based in Farnborough, UK and Shanghai China. This new team will be focused on Java and front-end development, and is intended to accelerate our delivery work on new features and product modernisation. This team will be part of a thriving local Infor community at the Hyderabad office which spans several Infor products and this is great opportunity to get in at the start of the SunSystems team.

The Principal Java Developer / Team Lead takes the lead in this new team, as a hands on developer who also provides a level of line management and co-ordination to the team. The team lead has a dotted line to the R&D senior leadership team, in order to represent the Hyderabad team and co-ordinate with activities in other countries. They will also receive support with any more complex line management activities from this senior leadership team. As a developer, the person also works closely with Business Analysts, Product Owner, Product Managers, QA and Support teams to develop new functionality and provide an excellent experience for our customers and partners.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing new software features and REST APIs, solving issues and supporting a major modernisation of the product, as the leader of the Hyderabad software team (circa 7 people).

A Day in The Life Typically Includes:

  • Developing new software features and enhancing existing functionality, working within our agile scrum teams, alongside product owner / business analyst, developers, QA, scrummaster.
  • Our teams are based across the UK, Shanghai China, and India, achieving a level of follow-the-sun development, and you may be working in teams with individuals from these localities.
  • Building out new REST APIs for use in internal API-driven development and externally for partner and third party integrations.
  • Investigating customer-reported software issues, security vulnerabilities and improvements to resolve in a timely and effective manner.
  • Providing basic line management and leadership to the India developer team, backed up by the development senior leadership team and local senior management.
  • Mentoring and supporting less experienced developers, both directly with code review and indirectly with advice and guidance.
  • Supporting product owner in understanding complexity of work, identifying constraints and dependencies and in estimating delivery timescales.
  • Working with architects to design features and functionality and to help to articulate the future direction of Java and Java-related software development, design principles and architecture for use across SunSystems.

What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications

  • Proficient in Java software development (Java 8, J2EE), with in-depth understanding of the language.
  • Java / Dot net / Angular – strong coding with team lead experience
  • Experience working with Spring framework and its ecosystem (e.g. Spring Boot) which is used extensively in our teams.
  • Strong OOAD with some UML/Design Pattern exposure.
  • Experience working in an Agile (pref. Scrum)  and iterative development approach.
  • Experience leading and managing a small team, and appetite to have this as part of your role, while being predominantly hands on development.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Enthusiasm and ability to collaborate well with others, including remote teams
  • Professional pride, drive and curiosity, a diligent self-starter that keeps up to date with best practise and keeps your skillset sharp.
  • Strong problem resolution skills

What Will Put You Ahead?

·       Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Enterprise, SaaS and/or web platform software development lifecycle a big plus
  • Experience with some of our complementary range of technologies, e.g. GWT, GWTP, JavaScript (JQuery/Angular), XHR, Tomcat, Service based architectures with HTTP (SOAP / REST APIs) integrations, AWS, Microsoft SQL Server or similar RDBMS,
  • Experience with our toolchain, IntelliJ IDEA, JUnit, Maven, Jenkins, Git
  • Strong ability to think through large abstract systems and processes, comfortable problem-solving and working with data.
  • Customer focused mindset, with the ability to understand end user requirements and consider how users work with software that you develop.
  • Understanding of Accounting/Reporting/Financial applications, or experience with or exposure to Infor SunSystems and Query and Analysis, beneficial but not required.
