A Day in The Life Typically Includes:
As a member of the Development team, the Business Analyst is responsible for gathering, analyzing, developing, refining, and communicating business requirements for assigned product development, product maintenance and support activities. The Business Analyst also contributes to the design and realization of solutions to agreed requirements. The role spans the full product development lifecycle. The position involves interaction with developers, quality assurance, operations, technical support specialists, business users, and product owners. The Business Analyst is expected to possess hands-on understanding of the product functionality and needs of users. This position operates under moderate supervision.

Essential Duties:
  • Develops an understanding of the LMO applications and processes, and incorporates this into the business requirements, design, and use cases.
  • Communicates with developers, quality assurance, operations, technical support specialists, business users, and product owners to identify, clarify and refine issues and requirements.
  • Aids in requirements analysis/verification, ensuring that requirement statements are in accordance with approved methodology.
  • Participates in defining quality specifications, external interfaces, screen flows, constraints, and other nonfunctional requirements.
  • Participates in breaking down high-level business and user requirements into a functional product design.
  • Writes product designs/specifications according to standard templates and in accordance with the system design specifications.
  • Represents requirements using alternative views, such as analysis models (diagrams), prototypes, or scenarios, where appropriate.
  • Participates in requirements prioritization, release scope control and management.
  • Creates documentation, reports, product designs, and presentations for applications, features, processes, and issues, which may require research and analysis.
  • Provides designs and input on coding, quality, and implementation considerations throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Participates in design reviews to ensure that the requirements were interpreted correctly.
  • Identifies and recommends resolutions to problems with design processes to ensure software quality.
  • Ensures that product designs successfully fulfill the needs that are defined in the business requirements.
  • Identifies potential technical problems or design flaws so that preventive action can be taken.
  • Collaborates on and documents product change orders throughout the software development life cycle.
  • Performs research (in the form of internet searches, reading books, attending seminars, interviewing industry experts, etc.) to augment understanding of business processes and user requirements.
  • Keeps abreast with industry trends and practices specific to a domain.
  • Provides domain knowledge/product knowledge to development and QA teams and as a subject matter expert on products to support groups such as marketing, documentation, training, support, field services and clients. This includes being an expert on the business processes, designs and specifications that are within their respective area.
  • Present designs/product features to customers (internal and external). 
  • Works with other members of the software development team to plan projects that will require specifications, and designs.
  • Evaluates, incorporates and documents product change orders throughout the software development life cycle.
  • Exhibits innovation in the development of new/improved methods or approaches to problems.
  • May conduct user acceptance tests:
  • Ensure that requirement and design documents are appropriately distributed, reviewed, discussed, modified, and ultimately approved.
  • Carries out or assists in QA, UAT, integration, system, or Post-Release testing of new development work as assigned.
  • Investigate, validate, and prioritize resolution of reported product faults.
  • Review and contribute to product release documentation.
  • Exercises judgment within generally defined procedures, practices, and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
  • Participates in discussions on business and functional requirements, processes, and development related to project and technical activities.
  • Mentor less experienced business analysts and help in product training for various departments as required.


What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of prior business analyst experience.
  • Formal training in business analysis techniques.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience of using, supporting, or testing commercial/business applications.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience of working in a software house environment, supporting, designing, or testing packaged software.
  • General understanding of entire development process, including specification, documentation, and quality assurance.
  • General skills in research, reporting and presentation. 
  • Strong sense of teamwork, cooperation, and coordination.
  • Good communications and interpersonal skills, including a good command of written and spoken English.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to understand business processes, application features, analyze new and existing requirements, and define use cases and improvements for the same.
  • Exposure to and understanding of key business processes associated with application domain.
  • Excellent knowledge of PCs/Servers and various software applications.
  • Strong customer development focuses with excellent communication/presentation skills.
  • Systematic and logical approach to problem-solving, analysis and testing.
  • Use-case modeling and design documentation skills.
  • An appreciation of relevant technologies, to include application development environments and languages, databases, networking and client/server systems.
  • Demonstrate ability to think laterally: by recommending innovative enhancements, effective solutions to customer requirements/faults, etc.
  • Experience with business object modeling tools and/or entity relationship modeling tools.
  • A working knowledge of modern software engineering practices and methodologies.
  • Unified Modeling Language (UML).
  • Strong logical, analytical, and technical skills.
  • Basic knowledge on Java or any related programming language
  • Basic knowledge or experience on Agile Scrum Methodology
  • Basic knowledge about cloud and AWS
