Description & Requirements

The Design Manager is a new role for a growing design team. The role will be essential in managing our global design team—ensuring the quality of all design work and the optimization of all members of the design team. You will assess and adjust allocations; schedule design reviews and critiques, and ensure quality assets are delivered on time and fulfill—and, when possible, exceed—the requirements. The opportunity is to mentor the current team and empower them to successfully address increasingly sophisticated design challenges while growing the team strategically to fill skills gaps.

Success in the role will be defined by helping to ensure: the design team delivers against fidelity expectations and the UX roadmap and backlog priorities; design documentation is accurate and useful; and the value-add of design is well articulated.

A Day in The Life Typically Includes:

·       Help designers understand and document the value add of their work for hand-off to communications, documentation, and enablement.

·       Advocate for the end user and help ensure designers strive for, meet, and exceed design fidelity.

·       Participate in the ongoing evaluation of the team and help identify gaps in skillsets across the team and professional growth opportunities for individual team members.

·       Work with design team members to create and enforce UX/design best practices and processes. Identify team needs regarding process, tools, documentation, and asset management; driving required changes to make sure designers are working at optimum efficiency.

·       Provide design plan, define milestones, track deliverables, and manage resources.

·       Ensure designers—across a global design team—are fully and effectively allocated. • Ensure design deliverable deadlines are met across a variety of workstreams and are feasible.

·       Proactively communicate unexpected delays in delivery and recalibrate deliverables and deadlines to minimize disruption.

·       Proactively identify, escalate, and mitigate issues.

·       Engage across other Infor Design teams as needed to queue up related workstreams that support design.

Basic Qualifications:

·       Experience leading and supporting design teams.

·       Experience with Figma and or other design tools, Jira, and Aha!

·       Experience in design operations and/or managing of the design team.

·       Experience with Agile project management methods (Scrum, Kanban, Lean UX).

·       Experience with the fundamentals of the product design development processes.

·       Experience managing multiple initiatives at the same time.

Preferred Qualifications:

·       Experience in a senior or lead design role.

·       Experience with/understanding of design systems.

·       Background in UX/UI Design and/or Design Ops.

·       Experience working as a member of a global team, across time zones.

·       Experience with mentoring and leading other designers.

·       Experience in capturing/articulating value-add of design.
