Description & Requirements

We are looking for a Sr Database Administrator to help manage applications in a large enterprise fleet in the cloud.  This role will be responsible for designing and implementing automation strategies to streamline database administration processes and minimize manual errors utilizing AWS CLI and other scripting languages.

A Day in The Life Typically Includes:

·     Deployment and management of databases on Amazon Web Services (AWS), including Amazon RDS, Amazon Aurora, EC2 instances, and S3 storage

·     Implementation of data backup and recovery strategies, disaster recovery plans, and high-availability solutions using AWS services

·     Performance tuning and optimization of database systems to ensure they can handle large amounts of data and support high-traffic applications

·     Design and implementation of security protocols, such as firewalls, encryption, and role-based access control, to protect sensitive data in AWS and Azure

·     Collaboration with development teams to integrate databases into software applications and provide guidance on best practices for database design and implementation

·     Monitoring and reporting of database performance metrics, and identification of trends and potential issues as well as management of database schema updates and version control

·     Writing and documenting the technical runbooks, processes and procedures

·     Taking part in performing monthly consolidated maintenance during office hours and after office hours to perform patching, updates and upgrades on Database resources

Required skills:

·    Experience with PostgreSQL database administration, including performance tuning, backup and recovery, and security

·     Experience with AWS services, such as RDS, EC2, S3, IAM, and AWS CLI

·     Experience with automation and scripting tools such as Shell, PowerShell, and Python

·     Knowledge of SQL and ability to write complex queries

·     Experience with database migration and replication

Preferred Qualifications:

·      Knowledge of database automation using tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef

·      Knowledge of Cassandra, OpenEdge, and Azure

·      Knowledge and experience of other RDBMS such as SQL Server and Oracle

·      Knowledge of government compliances and standards such as GDPR and HIPPA

·     Knowledge of monitoring tools such as Monocle, Sumologic, Splunk, CloudWatch
