The Development Project Manager is responsible for project management of product development, organizational, cross-functional, and departmental projects, as well as special projects directed by senior management. Key components of the role include project initiation, planning, executing, controlling, and closing. The Project Manager is the direct point of contact for all project-related issues. The Project Manager is also expected to assist in analyzing product development and corporate business requirements, managing development of detail reporting specifications, and utilizing business intelligence tooling to enable data generation for analysis and reporting.
A Day in The Life Typically Includes:
• Manages product development and/or departmental projects, or sub-projects within a main project.
• Plans projects using appropriate project planning methodology.
• Creates written detailed project management plans with the appropriate templates/guidelines, with the mentoring assistance of a (Senior) Project Manager.
• Manages activity definition/sequencing, duration estimating, and schedule development.
• Performs project risk management planning activities. Directs risk monitoring, control activities and develops workarounds as required to keep the project on track.
• Secures the necessary project resources.
• Performs project size estimation with the mentoring assistance of a (Senior) Project Manager or Program Manager.
• Ensures completion of the project within budgeted schedule.
• Manages all projects according to current Infor project management guidelines, organizational policies/procedures.
• Performs issue tracking/resolution activities to mitigate impacts to the project.
• Facilitates status review meetings with direct stakeholders
• Provides project communication using the appropriate methods and frequency to direct stakeholders.
• Manages changes to the project in accordance with Infor's change control procedures.
• Develops and monitors measurements/inspection points to ensure quality of the project management process.
• Ensures relevant information about the project is retained for historical purposes.
• Obtains formal written acceptance of the product of the project and project phases as required to ensure that the project has met its objectives.
• Manages internal customer expectations/relationships in order to achieve customer satisfaction and successful implementations.
• Provides written project updates and periodic communication to project sponsors and key executives.
• Promotes Infor and its products/services in a positive, responsible manner; The Project Manager is to act as and be viewed as a professional member of the Infor team.
• Creates and generates standardized reports and metrics that are utilized within the Product Development’s operation of Infor in tracking compliance of strategic objectives, and corporate goals.
• Prepares documentation and presentation materials and delivers training to product development and supported stakeholder communities when requested to present reports and defined metrics.
• Provides ad hoc analysis and special project work.
What You Will Need:
• Bachelor's degree in business, software engineering or computer science, or equivalent.
• Required 2-5 years technical experience in software development and/or software project
• 3-5 years relevant experience, including at least 2 years of direct project management experience, and 2 years additional experience/involvement with software projects or equivalent work experience.
• Experience organizing, planning, and leading a project from initiation through closing.
• Strong planning, time management, communication, decision-making, presentation, and organizational skills.
• Proficient problem solving, interviewing and fact finding skills.
• Strong analytical and technical skills.
• Team work and organizational skills.
• Self-motivation and discipline, ability to multi-task.
