Position Summary

The Nexus Science team at Infor is a data science team that works to infuse machine learning and optimization across the Nexus suite of products at Infor. Our customers use the Nexus platform to operate their complex global supply chains in collaboration with their many transportation partners, generating vast amounts of data as their goods travel around the world. We use that data to build and deploy mathematical models into the software to provide actionable insights and recommendations for users as they manage their supply chains. Our team works on problem solving from beginning to end: from understanding the business problem, to prototyping solutions, to implementation of algorithms in production software. Depending on the situation, our projects can range in time from a few months to several years.

Scientists at Nexus Science have advanced degrees in quantitative fields. We have a shared goal: to apply our extensive training and passion for problem solving to solve challenging real-world problems. We work in collaborative teams to solve the problems faced by our customers, and we are always learning about new applications and opportunities to apply our talents and create more value for our customers.

While day-to-day activities can vary widely, Scientists are generally responsible for performing analysis on large data sets, translating business problems into mathematical models, assembling results and presenting findings to varied audiences (internal and external), and taking responsibility for the analytical integrity of our solutions.

This position is based in New York City at our company headquarters, but several of our team members are remote and we are open to remote work assignments. Occasional travel (up to 10% of time) may be needed for internal meetings.

A Day in The Life Typically Includes:

  • Design and test mathematical solution approaches to problems faced by our customers
  • Translate business problems to mathematical models and validate understanding with stakeholders
  • Request data to build prototypes, load the data and prepare it for analysis
  • Perform exploratory data analysis and create data summaries, charts, and highlight interesting findings
  • Work with engineering to refine and implement designs
  • Support release testing and help facilitate upgrades to science models in production
  • Run existing science tools and code on customer data, analyze results and prepare reports
  • Perform ad hoc analysis to answer customer questions or solve data problems
  • Carry out specific analytical tasks as part of a project: code algorithms, build tables, modify existing models, analyze results from competing approaches, etc.
  • Create good clear documentation all along the way
