Information Developer

Position Summary

 

An information developer creates customer-facing documentation deliverables such as online help, user guides, installation guides and release information. Works closely with developers, other writers, and translation linguists. Researches, writes and delivers complex documentation projects. Follows Infor documentation standards and guidelines. Provides regular project status updates to management. Works well both independently and within teams. Thrives in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment. 

A Day in The Life Typically Includes:

·       Researches and gathers information; interprets software business and technical designs; organises and writes content for documentation projects.

·       Works with business and quality analysts, programmers, and product architects, to create appropriate user interface information. Seeks technical review; incorporates feedback professionally.

·       Writes content that enables the user to understand functionality and perform processes effectively.

·       Delivers quality documents with minimal errors; edits materials for clarity, organization, and adherence to standards.

·       Creates, tests, and troubleshoots online help systems for assigned software.

·       Uses the features of the authoring tools appropriately.

·       Manages time effectively resulting in maximum overall efficiency. Manages workload to ensure successful completion of tasks. Completes projects on time and meeting corporate quality standards.

·       Tracks and communicates status and results; provides accurate accounting of work and time allocation.

·       Takes an active role in projects, presents ideas in a constructive manner, demonstrates openness and builds on the ideas of others. 

·       Works with other information developers to resolve issues around subject matter, writing, tools, and standards.


What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:

·       Experience in technical writing and documenting business systems.

·       Strong written and oral communication skills.

·       Thinks logically; must be able to understand complex technical issues and explain them in plain English.

What Will Put You Ahead?

Preferred Qualifications:

·       Preferably customer-facing experience, or at minimum, experience in communicating directly with customers about technical subject matter.

·       Knowledge of software development life cycle and procedures.

·       Technical background, knowledge of Windows, installing software, connectivity, troubleshooting.

·       Knowledge of Infor software products.
