Beschreibung & Anforderungen

The Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team applies software engineering practices to IT operations tasks to maintain a scalable and reliable production environment for running software services – which involves spending 50% of our time on value-adding development and the rest on routine upkeep or “toil”.  This position is open for various backgrounds, including software engineers with operations experience, system administrators with development skills, IT operations professionals familiar with coding, system architects, and production automation managers.

Objective of this role

  • Run the production environment by monitoring availability and taking a holistic view of system health
  • Build software and systems to manage platform infrastructure and applications
  • Improve reliability, quality, and time-to-market of our suite of software solutions
  • Measure and optimize system performance, with an eye toward pushing our capabilities forward, getting ahead of customer needs, and innovating for continual improvement
  • Provide primary operational support and engineering for multiple large-scale distributed software applications


Essential Duties

  • Gather and analyze metrics from operating systems as well as applications to assist in performance tuning and fault finding
  • Partner with Support, Operations, and Development, to automate and optimize service availability, scalability, and performance
  • Build tools to monitor critical business processes and automate resolution faster
  • Participate in system design consulting, platform management, and capacity planning
  • Create sustainable systems and services through automation and uplifts
  • Balance feature development speed and reliability with well-defined service-level objectives
  • Investigate and resolve incidents and conduct root cause analysis and mitigation strategy to prevent recurrences
  • Create and maintein internal documentation, playbooks, and other consolidated knowledge repositories





Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in computer science or related discipline
  • Knowledge of data structures, networking, filesystems, web architecture, and AWS cloud computing
  • Ability to program (structured and OOP) using one or more high-level languages, such as Python, Java, C/C++, and JavaScript
  • Have an expert-level cloud management skills to orchestrate the available computing resources for maximum uptime and be conversant with databases running on SQL and NoSQL pipelines
  • Proactive approach to identifying problems, performance bottlenecks, and areas for improvement
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English; Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical individuals


Preferred Qualifications

  • Be familiar with release management processes and technologies, such as versioning tools
  • Take initiative, set priorities, follow through, and see tasks through to completion
  • Experience implementing and using system monitoring tools, eg Monocle, Grafana, and Sumologic
  • Experience with automation tools, i.e: Jenkins, Kubernetes
