Manages QA teams on projects of moderate to large size and complexity. Is often responsible for establishing software quality standards. Provides general supervision and technical guidance to the QA staff in the analysis, design, and testing of multiple software products. Maintains ultimate responsibility for ensuring all products are defect-free and compliant with technical specifications. Responsible for the hiring, firing, performance appraisals, and pay reviews of quality assurance analysts.

 

A Day in The Life Typically Includes: 

  • Supervises the Quality Assurance team, overseeing performance evaluations and career development, while maintaining leadership that fosters a flexible, team-oriented atmosphere
  • Exhibits drive and initiative to learn whatever is necessary to explore new solutions
  • Develops and manages quality assurance metrics for performance improvement of all teams
  • Manages department and overall expectations pertaining to setting accurate schedules, costs and resources
  • Ensures QA goals are met by managing product testing and addressing release issues, taking corrective action and escalating when necessary to meet deadlines
  • Develops and implements the product QA strategy across all phases of development, ensuring consistency through design, build, and quality checkpoints
  • Implements ongoing quality improvement processes working with interdepartmental teams
  • Provides effective communication regarding issues, objectives, initiatives and performance to plan
  • Manages and addresses Software Quality Assurance issues in collaboration with Development, Database, Integration, and Customer Support teams
  • Manages the planning and execution of functional and performance roadmap, QA functional, automation and performance
  • Creating and executing test cases is expected during the first year to become familiar with the product. This activity will be conducted as needed, based on project assessments
  • Assures the viability, functionality and effectiveness of essential tools
  • Participate in leadership activities and programs designed for employees' skill development and active engagement

 

What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or engineering
  • 8+ years of experience in development, research or product testing with a minimum of 2 years in management position
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with implementation and administration of Software Quality Assurance metrics, such as defect profiles and performance to entry/exit criteria
  • Strong commitment to quality and continuous improvement, with a keen understanding of its critical role in delivering reliable software products
  • Demonstrates knowledge of various testing methodologies (manual, automation, and performance) and understands their benefits. Implements a comprehensive testing strategy to enhance product reliability, efficiency, and user experience
  • Experienced in automation test development and agile methodology
  • Excellent problem solving, interpersonal communication and project management skills a must
  • Strong leadership skills that inspire team confidence and respect while motivating team members in a creative and effective manner
  • Must have a desire for achieving excellence in customer satisfaction, process and product quality and reliability
  • Strong understanding of different software development life and contemporary software quality assurance processes and automated tools
  • Must have experience in managing and working with distributed team members
  • Must be extremely detail-oriented with respect to documentation and communication
  • Helps to mentor less experienced employees in addition to fostering teamwork
  • Must be amenable to hybrid work arrangement (3x a week onsite)
  • Must be amenable to dayshift schedule

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • E-commerce software testing background
  • Knowledge of the defect tracking tool JIRA
  • Knowledge of source control systems
  • Knowledge of various internet/web-based or Cloud Multi-Tenant application architectures
